What is CBD and why is it used in Pure Dharma’s products?
CBD is short for cannabidiol and is one of the many naturally occurring cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that are naturally present throughout the human body and found in virtually every cell and tissue type. CBD functions by binding to these receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system and facilitates various physiological responses that help with enhancing mood and homeostasis in the body. Human beings have been intuitively tapping into the power of plant medicines for thousands of years to support health and wellness, and the research and science of today proves that cannabis truly is one of those potent, natural power plants that enhances overall wellbeing.

What is the difference between broad-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate? What does full-spectrum mean?
CBD isolate contains only CBD, so no other cannabinoids are present. Broad-spectrum CBD contains CBD as well as other cannabinoids, terpenes and phytonutrients but ensures no THC above .03% to stay within legal guidelines. By definition full-spectrum must always include THC and other potentially psychoactive cannabinoids, so there is no such thing as a full-spectrum hemp CBD oil since THC has been removed from the spectrum. We infuse broad-spectrum CBD into all of our products to get the most plant power in our offerings.

What are Essential Oils and Terpenes? How are they important?
Essential Oils are concentrated plant extracts usually obtained by careful steam distillation, cold pressing, or resin topping. The resulting oils have a specific molecular profile that gives them distinct properties that impart therapeutic effects on the mind, body, and spirit. Terpenes are flavor and fragrance molecules found in all plants (including some of our personal favorites: eucalyptus, lavender and cannabis) and even some insects! Different terpenes can enhance or provide distinct effects, fueling what is knows as the “entourage effect” which is the synergistic connection between terpenes and cannabinoids. Evidence shows that terpenes—in all plants—have therapeutic properties that can include neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory qualities.

Are Pure Dharma products safe to use while pregnant or nursing?
We believe in the purity and safety of our products, but recognize that there are some precautions to consider when using essential oils. If you are pregnant or nursing, please consult with your physician prior to use. Please avoid the eyes. If you are known to be sensitive or have allergic reactions to essential oils, please do a test patch prior to full application. We strive to use the highest quality ingredients but understand no two people are alike, and in some cases there may be sensitivity or tolerance issues.

Why do products range in color from batch to batch?
It is normal to see variations in color or clarity, even the consistency of products purchased at different times throughout the year. This is due to oil variations having different colors, clarity or even consistency from one batch to the next. But this is nothing to worry about – variation in oils and in batches are standard whenever you have plant-based botanical ingredients. Rest assured that the properties are the same even if the appearance is varied.
